Import your available history

Health Connect history varies by account and permission. A saved Takeout export can add older activity for calculated milestones, and preserve badge records the file still contains. It cannot restore records already deleted from your account. A new export may not contain any original badge records.

1. Ask Google for your data

  1. Go to takeout.google.com on any device, signed in to the account your tracker uses.
  2. Click Deselect all.
  3. Scroll down and tick Fitbit. (Google kept the old name for this category.)
  4. Click Next step.
  5. Choose .zip and a file size of 2 GB.
  6. Click Create export.

Google emails you when it is ready. For a few years of data this usually takes hours; for a decade with minute-level heart rate it can take a day or two. There is nothing to do but wait.

2. Get the file onto your phone

Download it directly on the phone if you can. If you downloaded it on a computer, copy it across however you normally move files — cable, Drive, or a messaging app to yourself.

If Google split the export into several files, that is normal. Select all of them at once in the next step; the app treats them as one archive.

3. Import it

  1. Open Classic Badges → MoreImport Takeout ZIP.
  2. Choose the file, or select all the parts together.
  3. The app scans it first and tells you what it found — how many badges it can preserve from saved records, how many days of activity — before importing anything.
  4. Tap Import. You can lock your phone; it keeps going.

How long it takes

A small export imports in seconds. A multi-year export with minute-level heart rate takes a few minutes. If you are in a hurry, turn on Skip heart-rate files — you lose only the "restorative sleep" figure in the monthly sleep summary, and everything else imports the same.

What can be imported, when present

What happens to overlapping days

Where your export and Health Connect both describe the same day, Health Connect wins for recent days — it is the more current source. Anything only your export knows is kept.

Your file never leaves your phone

The import reads the ZIP directly on the device. The app has no Internet permission, so it could not upload the file even if it tried.
